Closing Day!

This is it. Countless hours of checking our budget, researching builders, stressing over color selections, driving back and forth to the construction site to check on progress, and the excitement of shopping for the house... all resumed into a seemingly never-ending pile of papers and 2 hours of signatures. We did it; we're homeowners.

We did encounter a couple of bumps on the road. Expecting otherwise would have been completely unrealistic. But we enjoyed the process and look forward to making wonderful memories in this home. Even though this may not be our forever home, it will definitely be a special place for us.

Now let the projects begin!

Trim Carpentry and Other Things :)

We made an appointment with our PM to check on the house since we couldn't walk the home on Saturday. Our PM said he doesn't have to be around for us to walk the house, just give him a heads up and check with the SRs first. We're cool with that.

The walls have been sanded and primed, we have cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, interior doors, and trim base. Looking good! We're so happy we got to see the house today. They should be tiling this week and granite will be coming soon, too :)

Construction Update - Week 8 - Framing

If you remember, during week 6 we received an update from our PM that in week 7 (last week) the slab was going to be poured and during week 8 (this week), framing would begin.
This past Saturday, I stopped by the community to talk to my SR and the slab wasn't done. I was a little upset, but since we're trying to settle a little later than the estimated completion anyway, I didn't stress about it. I figured framing was going to be pushed at least out a week or so.


Today, I got this video from my SR. Three days ago we didn't even have a slab and today we're pretty much done with the first level?! HOLY CRAP!

Week of 12/26/16 - first visit to the community, quote, and decision

01/02/17 - signed purchase agreement
01/06/17 - meeting with Patti, loan officer, for loan application
01/07/17 - meeting with Guardian to discuss technology package
01/13/17 - first email contact with Bryson, loan processor
01/16/17 - loan application submitted to the underwriting team for approval
01/18/17 - loan approved
02/07/17 - pre-construction meeting
02/08/17 - breaking ground
Week of 02/13 - foundation completed
Week of 03/06 - framing completed (lumber and roof)
Week of 03/20 - shingles installed, HVAC completed, and plumbing rough-ins done. Dormers NOT installed - issue pending
04/03/17 - appraisal complete
04/04/17 - pre-drywall meeting
05/09/17 - loan final approval
05/30/17 - final walkthrough
06/02/17 - settlement date
